Very rare footage of Willie Hoppe and Welker Cochran playing billiards. Both players perform trick shots, regular shots, and ham it up for the camera. Both players are amazing characters and carry themselves with an elegance that is forever attached to the mid 20th century. Hoppe's playing cue in this film was a Herman Rambow cue and Cochran's was a Harvey Martin cue.
During WWII, Willie Hoppe, the most famous living billiardist, would tour and give exhibitions to the armed forces. This rare footage shows Hoppe's true character.
I can't remember this guy's name, but he is amazing. Please visit www.3cushion.com if you like more of this old billiard stuff. Email me if you know this player's name.
Legendary cue maker Tim Scruggs mixes modern and classic designs in this 2008 creation. The joint is ivory with a Radial Pin screw. The cue is ebony-on-ebony featuring six veneered points (3 high, 3 low) with ivory inlays. The handle is wrapped with slightly textured leather. The butt section has an updated classic look and an ivory butt cap.
Frank Taberski, World Champion at pocket billiards, demonstrates his ability to play pocket billiards the "Chinese" way. Fun stuff...and it's amazing how he doesn't miss. It says a lot for the ghost-ball aiming technique!
This hand made custom pool cue was made by Skip Weston in 2003. There are eight points with four being high and four being low. The long points are re-cut, which is a technique to make the points look veneered, but without the seem that typically goes through the center of the points. The short points are purple heart. The wrap is textured. The joint is flat-faced.
