Here's another one I heard through YouTube. After hearing this song, I reealized which other groups or artists had sampled it:
- Coolio - "Geto Highlites"
- Chapter 4 - "Fool Wit U"
Again, just goes to show you how the old school artists have had a lot of influence on today's music entertainers. This one's from their 1978 album "Showdown". Enjoy this laid back groove.
For all you hiphop fans, here's another nice video of old school sampled into new beats. This video was online, but now, it's no longer entirely there. I can already point out two songs where this song has been sampled:
Jay-Z: Dead Presidents
Mary J. Blige: Take me as I am
From his 1979 album "Dreams of tomorrow", here's Lonnie Liston Smith's "Garden of Peace"
I discovered this one through one of my mom's r&b compilations she bought at some store. This was the first track on it, and I instantly loved it. I had know idea what LTD stood for until I saw this album cover. LTD stands for Love, Togetherness, Devotion. From their 1978 album "Togetherness" featuring the vocals of Jeffrey Osborne, here's "We Both Deserve Each Other's Love"
This one can really sway for the bedroom, or just a nice slow jam. Musiq does it again, with this nice gem. Here's "Takeyouthere" from his latest album "Luvanmusiq"
I'm not sure how many people know that the song "One More Chance" has two versions. Of course, everybody knows the version from the 1970s, but they also did one in the 80's too. I personally like both, but I see the 80s version has not been posted yet. This is from their 1984 album "Victory"
Not only is Tweet so pretty, she's got this voice and sound I had never heard before. Her first two singles "Call Me" and "Oops oh my" didn't really capture my attention, but some other songs that weren't released as singles got my attention. The other two are "My Place" and "Beautiful". Either way, this is one of my favorites by her and I wanted to share this with all you YouTube viewers.
Here's another breezy tune by jazz guitarist by George Benson. From his 1993 album "Love Remembers". All you lovers out there especially, grab your loved one, get cozy, and chill to this song. Enjoy!
Looking back, groups like SWV don't really exist anymore. I know some members went on to do solo projects, but hey.. I could be wrong. Anywho, here's one that I liked from their 1997 album "Release Some Tension". I'd like to give a quick shoutout to BABYG112762 for identifying the mystery sampled song: it's Tyrone Davis' "In The Mood"
