I did this as an excercise for the purpose of, quite simply, practice. It's been a while since I attempted anything photo-real... It's very good to do this kind of thing because it strengthens your freehand drawing abilities, as well as developing an eye for detail.
Freehand drawn in photoshop cs2 with a wacom tablet.
time-lapsed... real time was about 3 and a half hours.
I had a hard time with this one. I was constantly trying to find satisfying composition and color depth. You might notice me changing it a billion times as you watch. The first part of it is time-lapsed. The "modificatioN" part at the end is real time.

Another digital painting done from scratch in photoshop using Wacom Intuos 3 tablet. Artwork is completely freehand drawn, with reference photo set off to the side for glancing at. No tracing... ;-)
Actual time to do pic was about 3 and a half hours.
This one is clearly not one of my best, I know. Perhaps my mental and physical exhaustion is coming through too much here on this piece. :-/
But nonetheless, it is another basic practice piece for me... And hopefully somewhat entertainment for you.

For the people that requested more dragons... Did you really think you had to twist my arm? ;-)
Photoshop CS... Wacom INtuos3... Captured with Snaps Pro X on a Mac.
This makes for great practice and discipline. The obvious conditioning comes in the fact that you cannot erase! Therefore, I submit to you that there are a lot of mistakes in the proportioniing of this little girl. I'm just not gonna point them out to you!
;-) I did my best to work them into the art.
Enjoy!
This one has been inhabiting my hard drive for a while as well. Wasn't too enthused about it... Did it around the same time as the ugly painting of the fairy. But what the hay--- here ya go.
