Just hours after the death of the Guinea's long term President, Lansana Conte, a group, led by the military, announced the constitution had been suspended, and the government dissolved.
The coup claim, has however, been disputed. The country's prime minister has issued a statement, saying the government has not been dissolved.

An Iraqi official confirmed that a group of employees from the Interior Ministry have been detained for allegedly planning a coup. At least 20 people have been detained in raids spanning five days. (Dec. 17)
